These are the down n dirty runs that that the team takes part in. Most of the time they are from the POV of their fixer, Aspen, but they will also be from the POV of other individuals.

Session 6 – The Bank Job

Cast of Characters:

  • Viking
  • Eternal
  • Mutt
  • Bowjack
  • Walker
  • Tatters
  • Ajax

“So yesterday, this team passes up on one job and this morning I got a line on another one. I tried to get Ajax in on the team earlier, but he never answered the call. This time he did. However, it appears that he had his hand full this morning as his apartment was raided by a pair of elves and a panther. I got to give it to the kid though, he was able to hold his own and took out the panther with his bare hands before dealing with the elves.

After the fiasco at his apartment, the team met up with the Johnson at the Chez Roach. He has an acquisition job that will need the talents of everyone on the team. The job was simple … access the 56th floor of the second largest building in Cara’Sir (Tir Bancorp Tower) and steal a commlink and a set of data chips from a safe deposit box. The floor, along with one above and below, are leased by Trident Enterprises, a subsidiary of Horizon. To top it off, the building itself is owned by Ares … So the team has their work cut out for them. Good news is, the J gave them a week to complete the job. This gives them plenty of time to plan out the run.

They started right into the planning by casing the place. Tatters worked on Matrix recon while Walker checked out the Astral security. Tatters was able to hack into the Trident Enterprise host and get a floor blueprint and other security details. While walking around the tower, they spotted a delivery van for a laundry service enter the basement of the tower. Some quick thinking and the team heads to check out the laundry service as a possible way in. After easily hacking the laundry host, they team develops a way in to hijack the delivery service truck. They learned the delivery schedule and that they deliver to the tower on Mondays and Thursday nights only. Since the job is due on Thursday, they team decides to hit it on Monday. Now that the team has an entry plan, they just need to figure out how to get to the 56th floor, avoid security, break into the safe deposit box vault, retrieve the items and escape. All without drawing the attention of CorpSec or Peace Forces.”

Session 5 – A Dip in the Ocean

Cast of Characters:

  • Rae
  • Eternal
  • Mutt
  • Bowjack
  • Walker
  • Tatters

“I contacted the group for another run. Eventhough they failed the last run I gave them, I have confidence that they would bounce back on their feet. They are still pretty new to the game and still getting used to each other. Hell, even I had a failed run or two in my time. This one is pretty straight forward. They were hired to infiltrate an offshore research lab and steal a prototype and research data, eliminate any threats and destroy the research mainframe. Pretty simple, get in … grab the drek …. shoot it up …. get out. They already had transportation set up to go to the facility, so that was a plus. When they got their, the sub driver dropped them off and asked to be radioed when they are ready to be picked up. When they started looking around the dock floor and intake offices, they learned that this facility is for Genetique, which is a subsidiary of Aztechnology. Then they were suddenly attacked by ravenous ghouls in lab coats. Now something must be wrong, unless the Azzies have started employing the Infected. But back to the story, they were able to fend off the ghouls successfully with only moderate complications. During the fight, it seems that Eternal and Mutt started to one-up each other, which continued into the rest of the run.

They found where the data center with the research lab was located and took the secure elevator, after using one of the ghouls’ employee ID tags, to the correct floor. As they made their way to the secure data center room, a pair of hell hounds engaged them. Now this is to be expected with Azzie security. In my experience, they have usually used trained paranormal creatures as security. The pair got the jump on Bowjack before Eternal and Mutt made quick work of them. I have heard of a video of Bowjack’s reaction to the attack and its said to be hilarious and set to a favorite tune of mine from the 5th world.

Once they cleared the secure door to get in the data center, Tatters went to work with hacking into the computer to extract the information. This was done fairly quickly and efficiently and from whispers it sounds like he got alot of paydata as well! He unlocked and extracted the prototype cyberwear, an fist sized egg shaped implant. Eternal made quick work of destroying the mainframe and the team decided on what to do next. This is when they got a call from the sub driver that there is another sub, likely a threat response team, on its way. The team decided that the job was completed, so they extracted out and finished up the job. All in all, I would say that it was a pretty good run. Since I currently have jobs coming out the ears, I plugged them in for another one right away.”

Session 4 – Into the Wilderness

Cast of Characters:

  • Rae
  • Eternal
  • Mutt
  • Bowjack
  • Walker
  • Tatters
  • Draken

“I received word that the team got a line on a job that requires them to take a little trip into the wilderness. Rumor has it, its to do a little reagent poaching on a tract of land that is owned by Prince Zincan. The Johnson, in this case, is a talismonger that has a shop out in Sandy. Lindsey Crow Feather already had a pair of muscles for the job, but wanted a little more insurance. The negotiation was simple, 8k each, plus an additional payment for each reagent gathered. Her associate, Belson, would be their guide through the wilderness. A squat, overweight balding, middle aged human man, Belson is a licensed guide, hunter and tracker. The team was given a short list of the reagents to gather and left in Belson’s RV. The list was short and simple.

Griffon’s Beak
Silver Moss
Golden Boar Tusk
Werewolf Fur

The team made their way into the Seren’diol National Park and set up base camp on the edge of the park. They unloaded the Growlers. Belson already scouted out locations on where they can harvest the reagents and posted them on an AR map. The Matrix doesnt exist out in this region, so the wireless functionality is NULL at best. The team decided on going for the griffon’s beak first. There was a nest of griffons that are about a 4 hours ride through rough terrain to the cliff face where the nest is located. After a rough climb up the cliff, the party came face to face with four griffons. There was a little snafu with the giant, known as Draken, and stumbling over a rock. The giant found himself with two of the griffon’s beaks where … well where they shouldnt be. As the rest of the team made their way over the ledge, they made quick work of the griffons. Belson went to work harvesting the beaks and the team found a stash of a pair of giffon’s eggs.

The next stop was going after the silver moss. There was a grove nearby that had an abundance of it, but it was inhabited by some aggressive awakened monkeys. Belson only needed cover while he gathered the moss. It would take about a half hour or so to gather up and prepare the moss. In the meantime, the party was pelted by small stones, sticks and handfuls of feces. The brunt of which was targeted on Rae. The team took pot shots at the monkeys and bought Belson the time he needed to gather a good amount of moss.

The next item on the list was the werewolf fur and the team decided to act that night. There was a mated pair that took up shelter in an old abandoned hunting cabin. The team did a little recon on the cabin and watched as they moved about the cabin. Walker caught sight of a totem that one of them was wearing that identified her as another follower of Wolf. As everyone started to plan, Eternal decides to charge the cabin and tosses in a tear gas grenade. This caught the team by surprise, but after a moment or two, they were able to compose themselves and take up positions around the cabin. As the battle started, Draken took the full brunt of a stunbolt spell that knocked him unconscious. They two invisible werewolves burst out of the cabin, one of them disoriented from the tear gas and flashbangs, was taken down by Mutt. Tatters caught a glimpse of a figure by a tree. The branch that she stepped on gave her position away. He shot a burst from his smg, but only hit dirt and tree. He shouted out to the others and Walker was able to pin point her location astrally. He hit her with a lightning bolt spell and she goes down. Eternal took out the other werewolf with some handy swordwork. However, the werewolf magician had another spell to let loose. The stunbolt was unleashed on Walker, but he was able to dodge it. Unfortunately, the spell was so powerful, the drain killed its caster. Moments later, the ghostly form of Wolf appears to Walker, silently judging him. A few moments later, Wolf turns and walks away into nothingness.

The last and final of the reagents is the golden boar tusks. Belson asked that the team not kill this boar, only subdue it so that he can harvest the tusks. The boar is an awakened creature that has the ability to regenerate its wounds and will grow the tusks back. The team tracks down the boar and Mutt subdues and holds it while the tusks are harvested. The boar was released unharmed and tuskless back into the wilderness.

With all the reagents in hand, plus a pair of griffon’s eggs, the team heads back to civilization and gets paid, plus a bonus for the eggs. It was good to see that they were able to pick themselves back up after the previous failure. The team now gets some time off for retrospective inspection as they prepare for the future.”

Session 3 – Wine and Dine

Cast of Characters:

  • Mutt
  • Bowjack

  • Tatters

“A sports friend of mine got me in touch with me about an acquaintance. Shadowrunning and sports have gone hand in hand since the leagues have passed the Denver Agreement. With that agreement, teams are forbidden to interfere with the acquisition of talent. Hence, shadowrunning became an avenue of circumventing the agreement. Now, I have done runs for and against other teams, so I am familiar with these kinds of runs. I agreed to me with him. After discussing the details of what was needed, I decided to throw the green team on it. They need something a little different and could learn from this run. I set up the meet with the Johnson and the team. I decided to include a couple of new people to help round the team out as well. The job was to keep an eye on a young recruit for the Paladins basketball team. He is scheduled to be in town for 3 days while the Paladins court him. It was almost assured that other teams would want to interfere with this kid, so this was going to be a tough one. Both the team and Johnson agreed to the terms and they went off.

What fraggin surprised me is that the team lost the kid on the first day and he was extracted by another runner team. They did good while the kid arrived at the airport and through the hotel. They found about the other runner team and some of their capabilities and thought out of the box to keep an eye on him. They were also able to keep on the mark in the hotel room and on the way to dinner. He had a dinner meet with some of the team management when all hell broke loose. Half the team was watching the mark and the other half was watching the hotel. Both were hit with violence at about the same time. Walker and Sapper were watching the hotel when they found out that the other running team’s decker was doing the same. They were assaulted by a pair of drones. At the restaurant, a couple that was having dinner opened fire on another table of dinner guests. The situation was handled quickly by Mutt and they lost the mark in all of the commotion. The were able to pick up the trail again after remembering the vehicle was tagged. They found it was ran off the road and two of the four bodyguards were dead. The mark was nowhere to be found.

I have had my share of failed runs in my time, and in a way, its good that the team have gotten on under their belt. The need to shake this off and get back on the horse. From my understanding they have another run lined up now. Hopefully they can get a successful run back under them.”

Session 2 (part 2) — A Child Lost

Cast of Characters:

  • Rae
  • Sapper
  • Skitz
  • Bowjack
  • Walker

“So the story goes that the group made a run on the apartments in Sandy. It ended up being a ruse. Rae and Bowjack were the first ones in and, from what I hear, Bowjack to the brunt of a 3 round burst to the chest and dropped. However, the rest of the group was able to make short work of the four gangers that were posted up here. All the commlinks that were showing were dummies. The camera showing Zoe with her captors had a picture stuck to it to make it appear that they were there. Throughout the complex, there was no sign of Zoe.

However, what nobody expected was the Shooters were also on the lookout for Zoe. Apparently Rae had made an impression on Susan and she sent out word on her network. They found that Zoe was being held in a shack in Gladstone down by the falls. No charge for this information, but the team owes her a favor now. The quickly moved on the new location. Sapper “acquired” or “liberated” the open bed Bulldog that was at the apartments for himself, so both vehicles descended on it. A quick plan was put together to draw out the two posted gangers and dispatch them quickly. The plan went off without a hitch and Zoe was rescued unhurt. We made plans to meet up at my favorite taco stand with Joanne and the switch was made. This team might just be ready for some bigger jobs that are starting to come in.”

Session 2 (part 1) — A Child Lost

Cast of Characters:

  • Rae
  • Sapper
  • Skitz
  • Bowjack
  • Walker

I got a frantic call last night from an old friend. Joanne was a friend from back in my running days. Her daughter, Zoe, was kidnapped and she received a video from the kidnappers. After I was able to calm her down and assessed the situation, it sounded like this needed some intervention from the shadows. Joanne agreed, but she didnt want anything traced back to her on this. She needed to keep it clean. I said that I would handle it and would pay for it out of pocket. That way, the nuyen trail did not lead back to her in any way. With most of my teams already on jobs, I set things up with the new team. They should be able to handle it. Joanne and I would meet the team and provide the pertinent details. I set it up for the next morning at a place I knew well, the Fairview Slopes. So I set this meet up with the new team and what the frag, Rae tried to negotiate the terms. I was so fraggin embarrassed after I said how sensitive this was and that the Johnson was a close personal friend. The others seemed willing to handle this without negotiating, but this will need to be something that I remember. They agreed to the job and went to work.

Now I normally keep my eyes and ears to the shadows when my teams are working and this was no different. They went about this pretty efficiently and found a possible location on where Zoe might be. Apparently along the way, Rae met up with Pwoner … What y’all may not know is Pwoner is a heavy set troll stripper that runs with the Shooters. I would have loved to have a flyspy drone on the wall when that smug elf met up with her. It seems they may have also found another location of interest, which is the library over on Woodstock. Now back in the days of the fifth world, this was actually a library with physical books and drek. Now its a shelter and soup kitchen for the homeless. I am not sure what interest they have there, but it was one of the last known addresses that was listed in Sniffer’s dossier.

So currently, at last check, Walker and Skitz were monitoring the apartment complex out in Sandy that they suspect has Zoe. The rest of the team split to rest up and prepare for the rescue.

Session 1.5 — Jackrabbit Gift Basket

This was a mini-run in response to events that happened in Session 1.

Cast of Characters

  • Rae
  • Bowjack

There I was. Minding my own business … literally. I was on a customer call at Celebrate It! when there was a crash out front. I ran to the window to see a truck smash into my Jackrabbit! I was like, Holy Drek! I ran out the door, just as this scrawny looking elf was putting a note on my window. I yelled out, but he just looked at me, jumped back in his truck and took off! What the frag, man. It said “Taco Truck” on the side as it left. I was able to get the license plate from the security footage and was able to get a pretty decent image of the elf that did it, along with another that was in the passenger seat. I filed the police report as a hit and run and filed the claim with the insurance company. That was on Friday.

Well today is Monday, and you would not guess what happened. HE CAME BACK! I was so shocked, I had to do a double take. Honestly, I was taken aback a little since he was pretty cute. He, and another elf that looked like an actor from old trid videos from the fifth world. I felt faint as something washed over me. They asked what they can do for me. First thing I said was that they can replace my car. They destroyed it after all. The cute one sorta when ballistic and tried throwing a chair through the window, after I recognized him I locked the doors so they couldnt leave. It was kinda cute, the way he lobbed it. The other one and I started talking about replacing my car. I gave them 5 hours to get me a new car and bring it back or I was going to the cops with the footage of them in my office.

I went about my day, not expecting them to come back, but they did! A few hours later, they delivered a new Jackrabbit to me. It was newer than mine and my favorite color! I ran out to them and they handed it over. The trid elf wasnt with him this time, but another one was. He was kinda cute, but I already had my eye on the scrawny looking one with the cute eyes. He did a final check of the engine and I made my move. I told the cute one that he can take me to dinner tomorrow night. I gave him my address and stuff and he said he would see me the next night. We went out and had a nice dinner, we talked about different things and stuff. It was a nice date. Later this week, he is taking me out to the movies. Cant wait!

Session 1 — Introductions Aside …

Session 1 — Introductions Aside …

Cast of Characters

  • Rae
  • Sapper
  • Skitz
  • Bowjack
  • Riptide
  • Walker

So I make a call to these chummers of mine that I have recruited for a shadowrunner team. A good bunch, but still green and a little rough around the edges. There is a dwarf that goes by the name of Sapper. Both him and an amerind human, named Riptide, have military backgrounds and all. Both have a decent amount of cyber and seems to be able to hold their own wits in a firefight. There is another human in the group. A shaman that follows Wolf and goes by Walker. A decent mage by all accounts. The other three are elves. Skitz, a computer wiz that can do some amazing things with the matrix; Bowjack, a decent wheelman and proprietor of the self named Taco Tank; and finally Rae, a silver tongued adept that tends to hide his awakened side. The group all in all has some pretty solid skills for being new to the streets. Anyways, back to what I was saying. I make a call to these guys early, and I mean pretty damn early, and tell them they have a meet with a Mr Johnson in an hour. Surprisingly, they all answer and make the meet on time. Not too shabby for their first meet. They head over to a old office building that was converted into part time storage. Its owned by the Mr Johnson, and that is where he dictated that he wanted the meet to be.

They all arrive on time and meet with him. The meeting goes well and they agree on the job. The job is to hijack a delivery truck that is bound for Malek’thas that is set to leave from a Syntech Logistics warehouse in North Portland and is scheduled to leave today. This was supposed to be an introductory run that was sort of an audition for the Johnson, so he had some contingencies for it. They were to hijack this truck, undamaged and unopened, and deliver it to an abandoned gas station garage in Happy Valley. They agreed on a price and an additional kicker for those that recorded the run for appraisal of their professionalism. Only Walker decided to not record the run, the rest of the team did. After the Johnson left, they developed a plan to go to the warehouse and hack into the network. Before they could leave the building though, automatic gunfire and screams are heard just outside the building.

The team assesses the situation and finds that a group of Spanners are shooting up the streets just outside the building. Walker was able to get some of the people fleeing to take cover in the building from the back door. Riptide was the first to walk, yes he literally walked, out the front door with pistols blazing. Then some weird stuff started happening to the gangers bikes. One went batshit crazy, sputtering and sparking, it ditched the ork rider and spun off into a lightpole. A few seconds later, another one of the bikes jerked into reverse and also ditched the biker. Within seconds, the team laid waste to the gang of bikers and quickly fled the scene to complete the job they were hired to do.

They arrive at the warehouse to start have Skitz hack the host to get more information. However, when Bowjack goes to find a parking spot, he ends up slamming his Roadmaster into a parked Jackrabbit. Wanting to flee the scene before the drek hits the fan, he leaves a fake comm code and leaves … just as the owner of the Jackrabbit screams at them. He flees the area and finds another secluded spot behind some trash dumpsters. Him and Rae walk to the nearest Stuffer Shack to get some spray paint to hide the big “Taco Truck” that is painted on the side of the Roadmaster. Meanwhile, Skitz hacks the warehouse host and gets the shipping schedule for the day and tomorrow’s schedule as well. They easily narrow the shipment that they need to get since it was the only one that was headed to Malek’thas today. It was marked with having medical supplies as the shipment contents. The kicker is that the shipment is scheduled to leave in about an hour.

They develop a plan to hijack it shortly after leaving the warehouse, but before it can get on the busy Lombard Bvld. Skitz was able to mark the truck so that he could track it. Luckily, they had a red light at the ambush spot and it stopped right in front of the Roadmaster. Rae was able to do his mind control magic and had the driver put the truck in park and step out of it. Skitz and Riptide head for the truck and before the poor driver, think his name tag said Frank, even new it, Riptide superman punched him and dropped him. Skitz and Riptide jump into the Bulldog and proceed to the rendezvous spot. They made it to the abandoned gas station garage without any further incidents or issues.

Once they get there, they pull the Bulldog into the garage and the two elves that were waiting for them start having drones clean the truck of any tracking devices. Thier Mr Johnson shows up and they receive their payment. They send the recording files to the comm code provided for the Johnson to review and payment was made in credsticks that were in a drawer.

So by all accounts, the hit and run not included, the run went pretty smoothly. My impression from this particular Mr Johnson, is that he was pleased with the way the run turned out. He expected to have some rough points here and there, but all in all, he was very pleased. I got a feeling that these chummers are in for a few more jobs. Until next time, be good Omae.
