These are the down n dirty runs that that the team takes part in. Most of the time they are from the POV of their fixer, Aspen, but they will also be from the POV of other individuals.

Session 12 – A Glutton for Punishment

Cast of Characters:

  • Bowjack
  • Walker
  • Tatters
  • Ajax
  • Eternal

Gluttony “.. the over-indulgence and over-consumption of anything to the point of waste.

After the initial recon was done during lunch at the Dragon Panda, Tatters does some recon on his own through the Matrix. He is able to find the arrest record for Ajax and alter it enough that it shows he was arrested for unlicensed cyberwear. Bowjack also met with the attorney, Lo Wang, shortly after that. They worked out a deal where Lo Wang would expedite Ajax’s release. They agreed on a price and the lawyer was able to get Ajax released the next morning after paying a fine of 5,000 nuyen. After some discussion amongst the team, Eternal fronted the 5k for the fine. More on that later though.

After the meeting with the lawyer, the team gathers together to continue working the job at hand. Bowjack sent in a flyspy drone while Tatters went on Matrix overwatch. Eternal scouted out the loading dock area and Walker kept watch over the vulnerable bodies of Tatters and Bowjack. The tiny drone worked its way into the basement level where most of the kitchen prep and work is done. Tatters was able to hack his way into the restaurant’s host and get information on the blueprints and various other files. As they discussed option on how they would proceed with completing the mission, Bowjack was able to catch a moment that could be an opening. They noticed their mark make his way up to the vats where he would personally test the soup for flavor. They have decided that this was their opportunity.

So lets go back to the release of Ajax. Eternal gave the credstick with the fine on it to Bowjack. Bowjack was the only one that went to pick him up from the precinct. Once there, he pays the fine and Ajax is released with the gear that he had on him. His Jeep, however as with all such cases, was surrendered to the SFPD. When Bowjack and Ajax exited the precinct, there was a surprise waiting for them. An Ares HTR team in two Banshee T-Birds descended on the pair. In a moments thought, a tactical squad was on them with weapons drawn. One T-Bird was hovering with its mounted weapons trained on the pair and the second T-Bird was circling above. Among the Ares officers, a UCAS military official waded through them. In his hand was a scanner. He requested Bowjack to place his hand on the scanner. Reluctantly he did so. The scanner’s trid display showed a “no match” and he moved over to Ajax. When he placed his hand on the scanner, it came back as a match.

Before he could even complete his sentence to “bag and tag him“, Ajax quickly leapt into action and slammed his hatchet in the head of the military official. Luckily, the helmet on his full body armor took the brunt of the blow. Ajax, however, did not fair so well. The HTR response was swift and efficient. All of their weapons unloaded into Ajax, tearing him to shreds. Bowjack narrowly rolled out of harms way, but other innocent bystanders were also killed in the strike. After the bloodshed, Bowjack was free to leave since he did not take part in the attack and they were not looking for him. Still covered in blood and gore, he ate his McHues order and went home to get cleaned up.

Later that day, the team prepares themselves for the their strike. They need only to seize the opportunity, should it arise. Walker was to place an invisibility spell on Eternal while Bowjack watches the basement through the flyspy. Tatters would be on Matrix overwatch and would be ready to spring his trap. When their mark would go up to the vats to taste test, Tatters would cause his cyberwear to cease functioning. This would be the moment that Eternal would knock him into the vat. Well that was the plan anyways.

For the most part, the plan went flawlessly. However, at the moment when Eternal went to knock him into the vat, he found that he was a bit more sturdy than he thought. He slammed into the massive wall of flesh with a disheartening THUD! Quick on his feet, Eternal hits him again with a solid hit that was enough to knock him unconscious and into the vat of soup. As he fell into the boiling hot soup, his body got stuck in the vat opening. His upper half was drowning in the soup while his bottom half was left flailing. After a few moments, the flailing stopped and the deed was done. Just as Eternal starts to make his way off the catwalk and out, one of the cooks notice his body and screams. When EMS and LoneStar security shows up, the team was already on their way out.

The job was completed to the Johnson’s satisfaction and the team was paid after the coroner’s report was released. His death was ruled an accident. The report went on to state that there was a malfunction in his cyberwear that caused him to fall into the vat and subsequently drowning.

Session 11 – Arrested Development

Cast of Characters:

  • Bowjack
  • Walker
  • Tatters
  • Viking
  • Ajax
  • Eternal

After Aspen told me about his “Havoc Squad,” I did a little digging on them and they could be just what the bay area needs. After they get settled in, I set them up with a job. The meet was set for 3:30am at Cheng’s Restaurant in Oakland. The owner there is having some issues with another restauranteur. She says that he has been intimidating her because she refuses to sell to him. The word on the street is that he was going to take drastic action. She reached out to me for some help. I figured this would be a great way for the new team to get their feet wet.

They team meets up at the restaurant and go to the meeting. The Johnson was alone and eating her noodles when they arrived. After discussing the job, the team learned that she is requesting that this person be killed, but in a particular way. They are to kill him in a vat of his own soup and it must look like an accident. After some negotiation, they are paid a partial amount up front and the rest will be paid after the coroner’s report is released. They come to an agreement and discuss the details.

Their mark is a Chinese man named Xiu Yang. He owns a chain of Chinese buffet-style restaurants in San Francisco. The team is provided a photograph of him. They also find that he does have ties to the Triad. Tatters does starts some matrix searches on him and finds that the is a heavy handed style boss that has his thumb on everything regarding his business. They leave the meet and head home. Tatters does find out that the original restaurant, Dragon Panda, is where he mainly is. but does make appearances at the other locations.

As the rest of the team is headed home, Ajax decides to head into downtown San Francisco and do a quick drive by on the restaurant. Once down there, SFPD picks up on a Jeep suspiciously driving around Chinatown at 4:00am. They proceed to pull the vehicle over and perform their normal checks. A SIN check reveals that the driver is broadcasting a fake SIN. While questioning Ajax, they pick up on his nervousness and detain him for further questioning. Another pair of officers check the Jeep while a portable scanner is used to reveal Ajax’s true identity. The scanner picks up on his cyberwear and a handprint scan returns some interesting information. When he was first pulled over, Ajax started broadcasting to the rest of the team through his image link on what was occurring. Tatters starts digging on the matrix for any information on the SFPD and the local precinct.

The whole team was watching as the handprint scanner displayed that he was wanted by UCAS military for desertion and AWOL. Ajax is immediately taken into custody and taken to jail. Before the police could link Ajax to the rest of the team, Tatters hacks and bricks his commlink.

Shocked at the early morning incident, the team decides to move forward with the job and will worry about Ajax later. Bowjack does decide to lookup an attorney that could help him and scheduled an appointment with Johnson and Lo Wang for later that day. The plan was for the team to meet up at the Dragon Panda and have lunch to check the place out. Eternal stays behind and does some legwork for his family responsibilities. When they get there, they go into the buffet in pairs and get some food. They do notice that some Triad members are present and there is pretty good security here. After some time, they hear the crash of broken dishes and screaming coming from the kitchen. A young woman comes running from the back, through the restaurant and out the door crying. A large morbidly obese Chinese male with heavy cyberwear comes out from the back and yells that she is fired! Looking back at the image they were provided, which appears severely dated, and find that this is their mark. Concern amongst the team spreads as they realize that this man must weigh close to 800lbs.

Seeing an opportunity, Walker and Bowjack rush out to follow the fired waitress. Bowjack trips and falls, but Walker is able to catch up to her and started a conversation to keep her from getting in a cab and leaving. Tatters gets a bead on her commlink and puts a mark on it for use later. Walker talks her into letting him pay for a cab and escort her home to allow her to vent as she needs. Tatters then does some searching on the Matrix for her and finds an image on her social media of her, their mark and their Johnson together at a family function. About that same time, Walker learns that the waitress, who is Janet Che, is the niece of Xiu Yang.

At this revelation, Tatters does some more digging and learns that the Johnson, Lien Cheng, and Xiu Yang had divorced 3 years ago. Furthermore, he located a life insurance policy that named her as the beneficiary. As a kicker, the life insurance policy has an accidental death clause that will pay out if he was to suffer an accidental death. It seems that the team has stumbled across quite the dilemma. One of their members has been arrested, their job is to eliminate the ex husband of their Johnson and to make it look like an accident AND they find that their Johnson will receive a life insurance policy payout upon the accidental death of her ex husband … yes, quite the pickle they find themselves in.

Session 10 – Retaliation: Exodus

Cast of Characters:

  • Bowjack
  • Walker
  • Tatters
  • Viking
  • Ajax

“There comes a time in every runners life, where you have to make a decision. A decision between vengeance or walking away. When the odds are insurmountable and you have to make that instinctual choice to fight or flight. This decision has come to my runners. The attacks that the Spans made against them left them battered and raw. Close loved ones have been hurt, former teammates were slain, and their sense of safety has been taken from them. After suffering the black eye of that day, the team plans for their retaliation.

The Spans main safehouse was an old warehouse in Gladstone. With the city already on high alert, any direct assault would bring Peace Force HTR on top of them within minutes. Walker came to me for some new fake SINs and we started to discuss the plan. I offered to have other shadowrunner teams run interference to delay the HTR response time. A contact of Bowjack’s was also able to possibly delay them as well. However, I felt it was my duty to impress on the young follower of Wolf the gravity of the situation and the possible repercussions.

So the team went out and did what runners do. They scouted out the warehouse and took up a position nearby for recon work. What they didn’t expect was a fortified warehouse. While there wasn’t much in the way of magical or Astral threats, there was plenty present in meatspace. Tatters hopped into the Matrix and did some scouting. He found that the place had some decent defenses, sensor suites and was well armed and manned. Bowjack tried to do a little checking inside the warehouse with his fly-spy drone. While scouting the perimeter, he found just how good the defenses were. The sensor suites picked up on the drone and before Bowjack could react, a turret with a mounted assault rifle came out of the walls and took out the minidrone.

Tatters decided to come back for more scouting and to see if he can get the camera feeds the following day. He jacked in and entered the host again. However, this time, he had more difficulty. He wasn’t able to hack the cameras, but was present when another truck full of reinforcements and additional steel lynx drones arrived. Once the patrol IC spotted him, it was time to jack out and leave. It was clear that the Spanners were digging in and prepared for the team of shadowrunners.

So, after much debate and discussions of options, the team decided it was time to relocate their operations. This, of course, is easier for some than others. Walker needs to discuss with Black Cat on what she would like to do. Likewise, Bowjack and Felicia need to discuss and decide what they should do. Eternal and Mutt would also need to decide since they really are not on the Spans list at this time. They could very well remain in the Tir and continue on. For now, the team needs to plan their Exodus and decide on where they go. I have already offered to assist them with leaving and getting them in touch with anyone I could in the new location. While it is sad that I am losing this team of runners, I am glad that they did not go through with their plan. For the sake of the stability of Cara’Sir, and my other operational teams, the decision to leave was the best one they could have made.”

Session 9 – Retaliation: The Spans Strike Back!

Cast of Characters:

  • Eternal
  • Bowjack
  • Walker
  • Tatters
  • Viking

“Everything has a Price … at least that is what we are all told since we were kids. My team of runners is learning this the hard way. It seems that the strike on the library to get Tatters a new cyberdeck was the proverbial straw that broke the camel’s back with the Spans. From what I have gathered from my litter, the Spans struck back at them … and hard.

The Bolthole is a small little bar that in is Gresham that is run by a former Shadowrunner known as Black Cat. She is a closer personal friend of Walkers. On a normal day, the bar has its usual patrons eating and drinking and at night, it gets pretty crowded with thirsty wageslaves that are fresh off of work. This was a normal night, unfortunately. It all started with a scream from the window seats as a Ford Americar plowed through the front windows of the establishment, followed by the explosions of high explosive frag grenades and followed by even more screams. Black Cat rushes behind the bar and gets her security system running. Out from the walls pops drone turrets with mounted automatic rifles. They immediately start firing on the gangers as they seemed to flood into the bar. In the hail of gunfire from the turrets and from the gangers shooting it, along with more grenades, nearly everyone of the bar patrons was gunned down. A few of the gangers remaining were able to destroy the turrets and set their sites on the bar and unloaded with their AK-97s. Black Cat did what she could from behind the bar with her shotgun, got a call off to Walker to get some backup and was able to take out the remaining few. However, the bar turned black as she succumbed to her wounds. Laying next to her was her commlink and an open line to Walker, who heard everything.

Walker, just starting to relax from completing the last job, got the frantic call from Black Cat and immediately started making his way there on his bike. He requested the assistance of the rest of the team and, after offering payment, Viking, Eternal, Tatters and Bowjack get enroute. Tatters and Viking show up at the same time as Walker and they see the carnage of what had happened at the Bolthole. Bodies were strewn about everywhere, both patron and ganger. Walker started to make his way to the entrance, which has been replaced by the Americar, but hesitates. The faces of all the bodies … they were the faces of his friend. Nearly succumbing to the reality of what he might face, he finds the resolve to continue in. Meanwhile, Tatters drops into VR and provides Matrix overwatch and monitors for the Peace Force HTR teams. Viking and Walker walk into the bar, stepping over the bodies and debris. He catches a glimpse of a leg wearing a chameleon suit and her familiar looking shotgun on the side of the bar. Slowly, he walks up and sees the body of Black Cat, but she is still alive! Severely wounded, but still alive. He hit her with a heal spell as Tatters announces that HTR is enroute and close. Eternal shows up by Johnny Cab and they load her in and flee the area.

Meanwhile … Felicia is closing up the Celebrate It! shop and getting ready to leave for the night. She is surprised as a Suzuki Mirage flies through the front window and crashes into the front desk she is standing behind. Stunned from the explosion of glass and wood, she doesnt notice the pair of gangers that walk in with their AK-97s. Once she notices them, she flees to the back office and locks the door. Grabbing her commlink, she calls her boyfriend, Bowjack. Just as he picks up, the gangers shoot their way through the door and grab her. She was able to tell him that she is at the shop but then the call trails off to the sounds of screams and more gunfire. They pull her out of the building by her hair, across the shattered glass and into the waiting Americar. Everytime she tried to resist or fight, the gangers would scream at her and punch her in the face until she stops. Once in the Americar, they leave with the remaining bikers. While inside the Americar, Felicia struggles to get loose, but they quickly smack her down. She only hoped that Bowjack was able to get to her in time. She looked out the back window and caught a glimpse of a GMC Phoenix sending one of the bikers into a nearby window. She seen Bowjack behind the wheel and smiles.

Bowjack, who is also just fresh off of the run, stopped to get some waffles and relax. While waiting for the waffles, he gets the message from Walker about the incident at the Bolthole. He makes another order to go and fires up the Phoenix to make his way there. However, shortly after that, he gets the call from Felicia. Frantically looking around, he knows that the office is nearby. He slams the Phoenix in a u-turn, unleashes the Detroit muscle and flies down alleyways an streets towards the office. He blew through stop lights and signs and turning down an alleyway that leads right to the office, he spots a black Ford Americar fly by with bikers riding Suzuki Mirages wearing the leathers of Spanners. Without hesitation or caution, he drifts out of the alleyway and runs down the first of the bikers. The other didnt stand much of a chance as the Phoenix causes the biker to slam into a parked car. The bikers try to shoot at Bowjack, but the bullets are either wide or bounce off the car. Felicia tries to get out of the window to let Bowjack know she is in there, but is pushed back and beaten while a ganger props himself out the window and fires with his AK-97. The spray of bullets riddle the hood and windshield of the car. Slamming the gas, Bowjack makes a couple of attempts to stop the Americar with a PIT maneuver, and the second one takes hold. The Americar looses traction and slams into the bikers, sending them both into nearby parked cars. The front end of the Americar catches on a parked car and goes into an end over end roll. The car slams over and over sending glass and steel everywhere. After a half dozen rolls, the car comes to a stop on its roof. The gangers inside were either ejected or dead. Bowjack pulls the Phoenix up to the remains of the car and sees Felicia’s bloody arm handing out of the window. He rushes towards her and pulls her out of the wreckage. She was still alive, but barely. He gently puts her in the Phoenix, hooks her up to a med kit and flees the scene. He meets up with the rest of the team at Walker’s house.

While there, Walker also hears from Sapper and finds out that Skitz was killed when the Spanners bombed his house. He fleed with some members of the Sons of Gimli to one of their safehouses. He also gets a call from Susan, also known as Vixen and is the leader of the Shooters, and is notified that the Hooters was hit. Her and Pwoner were the only survivors. She regretted to inform him that Rae, also a former member of the team, was killed during the assault. After all the news, Walker takes Black Cat to the back bedroom and Bowjack pulls the Phoenix into the garage and sets the Roadmaster make its way there, then gets back to caring for Felicia. Viking, Eternal and Tatters are all keeping an eye on things and discussing the events of the night.

It first started with the sound of motorcycles down the street. Eternal was the first to notice them just as the spanners launched another Americar through the front window of the house, which was immediately followed up by a high ex grenade. Eternal, who was the only one that noticed the attack, grabbed the grenade and threw it back towards the bikers in the front lawn. The two gangers in the Americar were quickly dealt with by both Eternal and Viking. Bowjack eases the fragile injured body of Felicia off the couch and on the floor, then flips the couch for cover from the gunfire. It was Tatters that brought this to a violent end as he hacked the other high ex grenade that one of the bikers had. The explosion was enough to kill the remaining bikers and leave a large whole in the front yard. Conveniently, Bowjacks Roadmaster pulls up just in time to make their escape. The Phoenix rams its way out of the garage and they team, plus Felicia and Black Cat load into the Taco Tank and flee to a coffin motel that Eternal stays at. They assume it is safe since Eternal has not been with the team long and it may not be known to them.

Black Cat recovers from her injuries and discusses the events with Walker. Bowjack, concerned for Felicia’s safety has me get her a plane ticket out of town. I set it up and also arrange for her to stay at a safehouse in Seattle. Now the team gets ready and plans for an assault on the Spanners main location, an abandoned warehouse on the lower Willamette River in Gladstone.”

Session 8 – The Bank Job — Part Deux

Cast of Characters:

  • Eternal
  • Mutt
  • Bowjack
  • Walker
  • Tatters
  • Ajax

“So after the fiasco with the library, the team finally gets to where they can complete the job. As the had planned, they successfully acquired the laundry delivery van while it was enroute, without harming the drivers. They were also successfully able to gain entry into the loading docs of the tower. Tatters took up a spot in a maintenance closet and started his matrix overwatch. The rest of the team loaded up their gear in the laundry carts and headed up the freight elevator to the 56th floor. Unlike during the recon time, there were no guards present when they arrived. Tatters successfully cleared the way by looping the cameras on the hallways. Still no guards or security arrived. They gained entry into the vault and located the correct safe deposit box, then the security arrived. There was a pretty strong water spirit that appeared in the vault, along with a pair of guards that came in on the regular elevators. Walker attempted, and nearly succeeded, in destroying the spirit with a manabolt spell. However, it turned bad for him as the spirit knocked him unconscious. As it manifested, Mutt pumped it full of lead from his automatic and finished it off. Hearing the gunfire, the guards call for back up and rush to the vault. Only to be surprised and stumble over each other as they come up on an awaiting Eternal, with sword drawn, and Mutt. The guards had no chance with the the prepared shadowrunners. Now that there was an alarm set, Ajax grabs the safe deposit box and they team begins their exit strategy, down the elevators, grabbed tatters and fleed the building. On the way out of there, they paused to check the box and found it empty. After despair started to set in, Ajax found a false bottom and it revealed the commlink and chips that were requested. They met with the Johnson and was paid. However, their actions may have upset the balance of things within Cara’Sir.”

Session 7 – Chips, Bricks and Explosions!

Cast of Characters:

  • Viking
  • Eternal
  • Mutt
  • Bowjack
  • Walker
  • Tatters
  • Ajax

“After the recon on the 56th floor was completed and plans were made, the shopping for supplies was done. The team all purchased items that they needed to the job on Friday and Friday night, Bowjack and Felicia went on a date to watch the latest Star Wars installment. Saturday afternoon, Tatters received a call from one of his contacts. A fixer friend named Victor. He had an urgent issue that needed to be discussed. They met and it ended up being a job that needed to be done quickly. The job was simple, go to a legal chip factory in Wilsonville and pick up some illegal chips by the 2:00p deadline, which was in a few hours. Tatters enlisted the help of the rest of the team and they met up at a rest area on I5 just outside of Portland. They arrived at the chip factory on time to pick up the shipment. They check in with the Will Call desk and was told there was a delay and they are just finishing up the order and it will be a little bit longer. While they team waited on the loading dock, and Eternal in the Roadmaster, they hear some sounds coming from behind the Will Call counter. The sounds of a chip printer jamming and malfunctioning put the team on edge. Moments later, they spot a Peace Force police cruiser stop and turn down the road with its lights on. Ttith no incident. The shipment of chips comes out of the loading door and gets loaded into the Roadmaster. The team then heads back to Portland to finish the job, but on the way, another Peace Force cruiser makes and appearance behind them. Keeping his cool, Bowjack is able to stay focused on getting back to the freeway and the cruiser turns off on another road. They make the delivery and get an easy 5,000 nuyen each for their troubles. Tatters gets a bonus box of chips as well.

So back to the original job. That night, Eternal and the team requested Tatters to do a little more recon on the Ares host for blueprints and/or information on the basement level. Bowjack escorts Tatters to the area of the tower and he jacks in. Things did not go as easy as it was previously. A couple of encounters with the ED-209 Patrol and digging in the host, he was able to find the correct file and disable the data bomb that was on it. However, this has gained the attention of the Host and Convergence happens … The host launches its intrusion countermeasures and able to snag Tatters in a link lock. Furthermore, it launches an assault that nearly bricks his deck. However, Tatters is able to escape the host as Bowjack flees the area.

Now, the job is at risk. The team would not be able to complete the job with a decker that does not have a deck. Tatters spends time to try and repair his deck. However, the stresses of getting it done before tomorrow nights plans and second guessing himself in the host distracts him. His solder gun tacks a micro-transducer to the wrong terminal block. Suddenly, the deck starts sparking and sending smoke everywhere. The smell of burnt electronics fills the room. In one bleak instant, Tatters looks down at his deck and the realization of what just happened hits him. In that instant, he realized that he had just bricked his deck and rendered it useless … Drek, he says to himself.

After explaining the situation to the rest of the team, Bowjack remembers that he knows where another deck is that they can get to replace the paperweight. During a previous job, the team was rescuing a judge’s daughter and they surveyed the Woodstock Library. This was once a library and now has turned into a homeless shelter and soup kitchen. This was also a secret drug lab that the Spanners used as well. During the recon, Skitz found a decker present that had a decent deck. The team decided to raid the lab and acquire the deck today so that they can be ready for the job tomorrow.

As they pulled up to begin recon on the library, Eternal leaps out of the Roadmaster. The rest of the team dons their gas masks, since the plan was to use crowd control gas in the library. However, Eternal had other ideas. He plows through the glass doors and tosses in a high explosive grenade near a couple of gangers, which also had a half dozen homeless people. The grenade goes off and sends the room into a huge panic. However, the next 6 seconds are but a blur of gunfire and explosions. Eternal locates the back room door where a ganger fled, opens the door and throws in a concussion grenade. What he doesnt know is that this room has barrels of highly volatile and explosive chemicals. The resulting explosion takes out the remaining gangers and the wall of the library. The decker that they were after was spotted and tagged in AR for the team to see. Eternal spotted him and charged at his as he fled through a window. He makes quick work of him with his monosword and finishes him off. He grabs the cyber deck and the team flees the area as Peace Force threat response floods the area with cars, drone and VTOL teams.

So the damage has been done. The structural integrity of library fails and the building now lays in a pile of rubble. High threat response has descended on the area and investigating. The remaining Spanners, that are still alive, have also fled the area. So now the fallout begins …”

  • Tatters
  • Ajax

“So yesterday, this team passes up on one job and this morning I got a line on another one. I tried to get Ajax in on the team earlier, but he never answered the call. This time he did. However, it appears that he had his hand full this morning as his apartment was raided by a pair of elves and a panther. I got to give it to the kid though, he was able to hold his own and took out the panther with his bare hands before dealing with the elves.

After the fiasco at his apartment, the team met up with the Johnson at the Chez Roach. He has an acquisition job that will need the talents of everyone on the team. The job was simple … access the 56th floor of the second largest building in Cara’Sir (Tir Bancorp Tower) and steal a commlink and a set of data chips from a safe deposit box. The floor, along with one above and below, are leased by Trident Enterprises, a subsidiary of Horizon. To top it off, the building itself is owned by Ares … So the team has their work cut out for them. Good news is, the J gave them a week to complete the job. This gives them plenty of time to plan out the run.

They started right into the planning by casing the place. Tatters worked on Matrix recon while Walker checked out the Astral security. Tatters was able to hack into the Trident Enterprise host and get a floor blueprint and other security details. While walking around the tower, they spotted a delivery van for a laundry service enter the basement of the tower. Some quick thinking and the team heads to check out the laundry service as a possible way in. After easily hacking the laundry host, they team develops a way in to hijack the delivery service truck. They learned the delivery schedule and that they deliver to the tower on Mondays and Thursday nights only. Since the job is due on Thursday, they team decides to hit it on Monday. Now that the team has an entry plan, they just need to figure out how to get to the 56th floor, avoid security, break into the safe deposit box vault, retrieve the items and escape. All without drawing the attention of CorpSec or Peace Forces.”

Session 5 – A Dip in the Ocean

Cast of Characters:

  • Rae
  • Eternal
  • Mutt
  • Bowjack
  • Walker
  • Tatters

“I contacted the group for another run. Eventhough they failed the last run I gave them, I have confidence that they would bounce back on their feet. They are still pretty new to the game and still getting used to each other. Hell, even I had a failed run or two in my time. This one is pretty straight forward. They were hired to infiltrate an offshore research lab and steal a prototype and research data, eliminate any threats and destroy the research mainframe. Pretty simple, get in … grab the drek …. shoot it up …. get out. They already had transportation set up to go to the facility, so that was a plus. When they got their, the sub driver dropped them off and asked to be radioed when they are ready to be picked up. When they started looking around the dock floor and intake offices, they learned that this facility is for Genetique, which is a subsidiary of Aztechnology. Then they were suddenly attacked by ravenous ghouls in lab coats. Now something must be wrong, unless the Azzies have started employing the Infected. But back to the story, they were able to fend off the ghouls successfully with only moderate complications. During the fight, it seems that Eternal and Mutt started to one-up each other, which continued into the rest of the run.

They found where the data center with the research lab was located and took the secure elevator, after using one of the ghouls’ employee ID tags, to the correct floor. As they made their way to the secure data center room, a pair of hell hounds engaged them. Now this is to be expected with Azzie security. In my experience, they have usually used trained paranormal creatures as security. The pair got the jump on Bowjack before Eternal and Mutt made quick work of them. I have heard of a video of Bowjack’s reaction to the attack and its said to be hilarious and set to a favorite tune of mine from the 5th world.

Once they cleared the secure door to get in the data center, Tatters went to work with hacking into the computer to extract the information. This was done fairly quickly and efficiently and from whispers it sounds like he got alot of paydata as well! He unlocked and extracted the prototype cyberwear, an fist sized egg shaped implant. Eternal made quick work of destroying the mainframe and the team decided on what to do next. This is when they got a call from the sub driver that there is another sub, likely a threat response team, on its way. The team decided that the job was completed, so they extracted out and finished up the job. All in all, I would say that it was a pretty good run. Since I currently have jobs coming out the ears, I plugged them in for another one right away.”

“I received word that the team got a line on a job that requires them to take a little trip into the wilderness. Rumor has it, its to do a little reagent poaching on a tract of land that is owned by Prince Zincan. The Johnson, in this case, is a talismonger that has a shop out in Sandy. Lindsey Crow Feather already had a pair of muscles for the job, but wanted a little more insurance. The negotiation was simple, 8k each, plus an additional payment for each reagent gathered. Her associate, Belson, would be their guide through the wilderness. A squat, overweight balding, middle aged human man, Belson is a licensed guide, hunter and tracker. The team was given a short list of the reagents to gather and left in Belson’s RV. The list was short and simple.

Griffon’s Beak
Silver Moss
Golden Boar Tusk
Werewolf Fur

The team made their way into the Seren’diol National Park and set up base camp on the edge of the park. They unloaded the Growlers. Belson already scouted out locations on where they can harvest the reagents and posted them on an AR map. The Matrix doesnt exist out in this region, so the wireless functionality is NULL at best. The team decided on going for the griffon’s beak first. There was a nest of griffons that are about a 4 hours ride through rough terrain to the cliff face where the nest is located. After a rough climb up the cliff, the party came face to face with four griffons. There was a little snafu with the giant, known as Draken, and stumbling over a rock. The giant found himself with two of the griffon’s beaks where … well where they shouldnt be. As the rest of the team made their way over the ledge, they made quick work of the griffons. Belson went to work harvesting the beaks and the team found a stash of a pair of giffon’s eggs.

The next stop was going after the silver moss. There was a grove nearby that had an abundance of it, but it was inhabited by some aggressive awakened monkeys. Belson only needed cover while he gathered the moss. It would take about a half hour or so to gather up and prepare the moss. In the meantime, the party was pelted by small stones, sticks and handfuls of feces. The brunt of which was targeted on Rae. The team took pot shots at the monkeys and bought Belson the time he needed to gather a good amount of moss.

The next item on the list was the werewolf fur and the team decided to act that night. There was a mated pair that took up shelter in an old abandoned hunting cabin. The team did a little recon on the cabin and watched as they moved about the cabin. Walker caught sight of a totem that one of them was wearing that identified her as another follower of Wolf. As everyone started to plan, Eternal decides to charge the cabin and tosses in a tear gas grenade. This caught the team by surprise, but after a moment or two, they were able to compose themselves and take up positions around the cabin. As the battle started, Draken took the full brunt of a stunbolt spell that knocked him unconscious. They two invisible werewolves burst out of the cabin, one of them disoriented from the tear gas and flashbangs, was taken down by Mutt. Tatters caught a glimpse of a figure by a tree. The branch that she stepped on gave her position away. He shot a burst from his smg, but only hit dirt and tree. He shouted out to the others and Walker was able to pin point her location astrally. He hit her with a lightning bolt spell and she goes down. Eternal took out the other werewolf with some handy swordwork. However, the werewolf magician had another spell to let loose. The stunbolt was unleashed on Walker, but he was able to dodge it. Unfortunately, the spell was so powerful, the drain killed its caster. Moments later, the ghostly form of Wolf appears to Walker, silently judging him. A few moments later, Wolf turns and walks away into nothingness.

The last and final of the reagents is the golden boar tusks. Belson asked that the team not kill this boar, only subdue it so that he can harvest the tusks. The boar is an awakened creature that has the ability to regenerate its wounds and will grow the tusks back. The team tracks down the boar and Mutt subdues and holds it while the tusks are harvested. The boar was released unharmed and tuskless back into the wilderness.

With all the reagents in hand, plus a pair of griffon’s eggs, the team heads back to civilization and gets paid, plus a bonus for the eggs. It was good to see that they were able to pick themselves back up after the previous failure. The team now gets some time off for retrospective inspection as they prepare for the future.”

“A sports friend of mine got me in touch with me about an acquaintance. Shadowrunning and sports have gone hand in hand since the leagues have passed the Denver Agreement. With that agreement, teams are forbidden to interfere with the acquisition of talent. Hence, shadowrunning became an avenue of circumventing the agreement. Now, I have done runs for and against other teams, so I am familiar with these kinds of runs. I agreed to me with him. After discussing the details of what was needed, I decided to throw the green team on it. They need something a little different and could learn from this run. I set up the meet with the Johnson and the team. I decided to include a couple of new people to help round the team out as well. The job was to keep an eye on a young recruit for the Paladins basketball team. He is scheduled to be in town for 3 days while the Paladins court him. It was almost assured that other teams would want to interfere with this kid, so this was going to be a tough one. Both the team and Johnson agreed to the terms and they went off.

What fraggin surprised me is that the team lost the kid on the first day and he was extracted by another runner team. They did good while the kid arrived at the airport and through the hotel. They found about the other runner team and some of their capabilities and thought out of the box to keep an eye on him. They were also able to keep on the mark in the hotel room and on the way to dinner. He had a dinner meet with some of the team management when all hell broke loose. Half the team was watching the mark and the other half was watching the hotel. Both were hit with violence at about the same time. Walker and Sapper were watching the hotel when they found out that the other running team’s decker was doing the same. They were assaulted by a pair of drones. At the restaurant, a couple that was having dinner opened fire on another table of dinner guests. The situation was handled quickly by Mutt and they lost the mark in all of the commotion. The were able to pick up the trail again after remembering the vehicle was tagged. They found it was ran off the road and two of the four bodyguards were dead. The mark was nowhere to be found.

I have had my share of failed runs in my time, and in a way, its good that the team have gotten on under their belt. The need to shake this off and get back on the horse. From my understanding they have another run lined up now. Hopefully they can get a successful run back under them.”
