“Are you sure this should be done?” A young man asked.
“Yes, this has been my life’s work,” an older man dressed in a finely made robe responds. “Why wouldn’t this need to be done?”
“The prophecy though …”
“Prophecy be damned!” the older man shouts before the younger man can finish the sentence. He turned back to his tomes and continued the work he was doing.
The older man was a human named Quintis Mettius Marsus. Marsus was an archmage and member of the Order of the Phoenix, an order dedicated to magic, magical research and artifacts. Long ago, he found an ancient tome that described a powerful magic that could shield large objects or places. The magic was wielded by Prometheus, the God of Magic, and this tome contained references to how to counteract this magic. Marsus took it upon himself to find this magic shield and how to remove the shield. It took decades, but he finally found both of these. Now he was on the brink of lifting the shield to reveal what is behind it. What riches or knowledge was to be found.
With his discoveries, Marsus is finally prepared to complete his work. Assuming that there is some sort of land there, he sends out a call to hearty individuals that would be the first to colonize this new land. Only those that have relevant and usable trade skills are requested.
With the colonists gathered and a fleet of minotaur built quinqueremes, Marsus loads up on supplies and sets out to make history. The ships set sail for the magic shield and this new lands. Its passengers dreaming of the potential riches and stories it holds.
Aboard one of the ships, a group of individuals sat huddled together in the cramped tight quarters. This particular group of individuals came from all parts of the Northern Realms for this purpose … all are set to play a part in a truly remarkable adventure … all are set to fulfill both prophecy and destiny.
